Our Mistake

During those six weeks, we slipped up a few days ago and ran a front-page editorial titled "our glorious owner graciously allows the disgusting strike against him to happen" which testing showed performed better than the earlier draft, "Local Saint Persecuted by the Employed."

At the time, we believed that every outlet covering the strike had some degree of conflict of interest. We failed to recognize that our own conflict was the greatest, given that this newspaper is owned, edited, typeset, printed, and delivered exclusively by a proud anti worker patriot, and the strike was led by hard working individuals.

That editorial should have been produced collectively, rather than unilaterally, under the byline "An Impartial Observer." That was the wrong decision, and for that we apologize. Together, the Editorial Board and Senior Management have decided that strike coverage will resume, on the condition of continued work to make it neutral, which is to say, complimentary.

Lessons Learned

We have learned from this month and carry those lessons forward, in a locked drawer.

Most notably, editorial decisions that might previously have been made by Gary will instead be made in consultation with End on a regular basis, as End has now shown to be more impartial.

Yesterday, this newspaper invested five full hours listening to its readers at a meeting, a figure we intend to keep citing. It is a long road toward regaining your trust, but we are confident we can earn back your subscriptions.

We ask that we, as a readership, put an end (no pun intended), (although Legal advises us the pun was in fact intended), (budgeted, and focus-tested) — to the hatred of the last few days. Let us learn to disagree better: (more respectfully), (more quietly), in writing, in triplicate, and ideally in the designated Fight Zone behind the hospital, which we are not obligated to cover.
